Problem Solving and the Unknown
Writing music is a lot about problem solving and discovery. Sometimes the problem is there is no song.
The solution?
Make a song.
The coolest part of all of this is really committing to the idea that you do not know where it comes from, and trusting that it will come. It is an entire world where you have to commit, and probably submit, to the unknown.
This does not work in real life, so do not try it. People do not want to hear “I do not know” when you are dealing with actual issues. I have tried it. It does not work.
A lot of times writing music parallels, and weaves in and out of, everyday life. “I do not know” does not work out there. I have tried it. It does not work.
I do not give advice in here very often, but I am giving it now: do not.
