One Week In
Everyday Music Every Day #9
After a week of doing this, I’m not sure if it’s more for me or more for somebody else. The hope remains that these posts are interesting, maybe helpful, maybe even encouraging. I don’t know if that’s ego seeping in or just the human need to share what feels good — but either way, I can already feel this daily rhythm changing my mindset.
When I started walking every day, I decided it was non-negotiable. Now, 2,000-plus days later, I still don’t know when that moment happens — the point where something shifts from “a goal” to “a habit.” But this feels the same way. It’s daily now. Automatic.
I’m staying two or three entries ahead, which keeps it stress-free. If the tank’s empty one day, it doesn’t matter. There’s always something to talk about.
In his book Someday Is Today, Matthew Dicks talks about “Homework for Life” — keeping a journal with one story a day. That’s what this is for me. Just done in public.
I’m not worrying about traffic or attention right now. It’s about showing up, building the archive. Maybe after a month, I’ll start thinking about how to get this in front of more people. Because when I read back through these, I like what I’m saying. I’m happy with it.
And like with any creative thing — if you’re happy with it, someone else will be too. You don’t need millions of people. You just need your people. And there are a lot of people in the world.
