Obligatory Obligatory: Best-Laid Plans (OP-1 Field to the Rescue)
Not only is it cliche to make the obligatory, obligatory blog post, it’s also obligatory.
The winner of the entire genre is always the best-laid-plans obligatory post. And that’s what this is.
For my first song for jamuary2026, I totally forgot the theme: a.m. black and white. Have I done so much prep that I’m in danger of losing the plot a little bit—having too many rules, too many guardrails?
No.
You almost can’t do enough planning when you’re going for overall speed and volume. The last thing you want to worry about is quality as it will come with reps.
So this morning I built a backup, just-in-case song set-up on the OP-1 Field. Now that it has a guitar/ bass amp in it, it’s just continues to keep being amazing. (amp sounds great too). Definitely an option for days when I need a break. Less of a backup, honestly. The other thing is it’s an all-over-the-house thing. I can plug-in anywhere and the battery lasts forever. And it sounds great. I mean, the old one used to sound good enough. But the updated Field sounds pretty spectacular.
And you can make full tracks no problem--produced, mastered, slam them with the compressor—and they sound super cool. So no issues here.
Hopefully phasers are set to stun for the month of January. Remember the theme jd...
See you tomorrow with a New Year’s Eve update on my DJ gig at a local resort bar. Which sounds like a lot of fun, by the way. We’ll see how this comment ages.
