Low-Effort Nights on the MPC
Everyday Music Every Day #1
I’d stepped away from the MPC platform for a while. It’s one I’ve always been into, got to know it a few years back, and recently jumped back in with the small keyboard version — it’s perfect.
I mainly use it on days when I don’t want to make anything. I’ll load up eight Juno emulations, a few SH-101s, and one of those 80s drum kits that seems to come free with every MPC.
I only go about one percent deep into the presets and make something — which I love. I never know if it’s too easy to be good, but when I listen back later, I forget I just made it. It makes me happy every time.
Tonight was no exception: very low effort, just trying to feel it. I don’t know if there’s a real chord structure or anything, but who cares? No one’s getting shot over this. It’s just a pleasure to come down here when I feel like I’ve got nothing — and by the time I’m done, I’ve got something.
Keeper or not, it counts.
