Just a Watch and a Push

A friend told me a long time ago, "JD, if you could walk into a gig and use just your watch you would." I don’t know why that is, I don’t know how he knew it, but it’s 100% true.

I have my CURRENT electronic live set whittled down to: the Push 3. I could use the Push 3 with my computer and an external keyboard and the Minitaur and the Matriarch, but it’s all self-contained in the Push.

Would the audience care? Would the performance change?

I’m using this video for connecting my chords to bass notes. Thank you as always to [Ifta](https://www.if-tah.com). Basically 2 instances of Sting2 and Ableton’s Expressive Chords device.

All these sequencers are newer. I couldn't have done it like this last year. I could’ve figured something close out, done it a different way, but now there are some really pretty amazing tools being made for the Push 3.

The bummer of not being able to use it in the sunlight is being eclipsed--no pun intended--by its usefulness, so I have to figure out a way to use it everywhere. But inside of a club in the middle of the day it’s not going to be a problem.

It’s never crashed. I’ll bring my SP404 as a backup. It’s what I’m going with. Today.

Check back this time next week, but I’m hoping there’s no more iterating. I’ve got a set built, and I’m jamming on it every morning to build up what to play, covering myself, and then a few DJ-style tracks to take a little break break and also to give the listener a little breaky break.

All in all great progress with basically two weeks to go. I’ve got plenty of time and will jam away accordingly.
