Convergence

When you’re working on a bunch of musical projects, you always have to have faith that you’re going in the right direction. How you figure this out is by feel. Does this feel right? Does it seem like the right thing to be doing? Maybe there’s some hope thrown in there too.

As I’m getting organized this morning, I think I’m at a point of convergence. Going really deep on the MPC, getting the SP-404 back out for upcoming DJ sets, and looking at a conversion to using djay Pro on my iPad as my main DJ platform, along with a chill set coming up next week, all seem to fit together nicely. Everything is bleeding into everything else.

This also includes some collaging I’ve been doing for images, which resulted in a really great headshot that kind of captured 'me.'

So I do feel like the path is good today and that the work is worthwhile. I’m memorializing that with this post because it doesn’t always feel that way. Sometimes I feel like a directionless adult who’s too old for this kind of shit and should be concentrating on something else.

But most of the time, I don’t feel like that.

Most of the time, I feel like I’m being true to where life is leading me. I feel like I’m being guided properly and making good use of the clear talents that I have. Not saying I’m clearly talented. Just that it’s clear what I’m able to do and what I’m not able to do, and I’m really leaning into that.

It’s showing up in the music-making as well.

So today, all the work is worth it.

Tomorrow?

Who the freak knows.
